Origin: Central America, South America, and the Lesser Antilles. Many people assume Hercules beetles are hazardous because of their huge size and prominent horns. Their horns aren't particularly threatening, and the beetles aren't known to bite. If you pick one up, though, its powerful, spiky legs may scratch you. |
