Information : One of the four sacred places associated with Lord Buddha's life, the Mahabodhi Temple Complex is dedicated to the achievement of Enlightenment. Construction of the original temple began in the third century B.C. under the reign of Emperor Asoka, and the current temple dates from the fifth or sixth centuries. From the late Gupta period, it is one of the first Buddhist temples in India made completely of brick.
