A Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva, Thillai Nataraja Temple, Chidambaram or Chidambaram temple, is located in the town of Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, South India. It has inspired religion, architecture, sculpture, and performance art for more than two millennia and is recognised as the foremost of all temples (Kovil) among Saivites. On the Pancha Bootha Sthalams list, Chidambaram is one of the five most sacred Shiva temples, with each representing one of the five classical elements. |
