There is a Vidyashankara temple at Sringeri, near the Sharada Peetham, which is a major attraction. There is an Advaitha matha in Sringeri founded by Adi Shankara himself. It has a long history, dating back to the eighth century. First leader of this matha was Sri Adi Shankara's student Sureshwaracharya. With a faint resemblance to an antique chariot's caravan, this temple was built around Vidyathirtha's Samadhi. |
