The ruby-tailed wasp and the gold wasps are other names for the cuckoo wasp. Most cuckoo wasps are little, measuring no more than 1.2 cm in length, making them easy prey for predators. Metallic green and blue are the most common colours. Almost all cuckoo wasps are parasites of fully formed bee or wasp larvae, and are solitary, exterior parasites. |
