This temple is also known as Rajesvara Peruvudaiyar or Brihadeeswarar, devoted to Shiva. It is more than 1000 years old and one of the biggest Tamil-style South Indian temples. This temple is a UNESCO World Cultural heritage, one of the Great Living Chola Temples. This temple also named as 'Periya Kovil' by local devotees. |
