Although it is often referred to as a "Golden Temple," it is recognised as the Harmandir Sahib or even as "Darbar Sahib," a gurudwara in the Amritsar region of Punjab. It is called the "Golden Temple," because of the golden covering of the dome and walls of the temple, and it is a golden temple physically and symbolically. People of various religions visit and respect the temple. |
