The temple of Somnath is one of India's 12 Jyotirlingas temples and is a major temple. It is also one of the oldest temples in the country in Saurashtra, Gujarat and in ancient Hindu texts there can be found references of the Somnath Temple. It is also called the 'Eternal Shrine' as it was reconstructed several times after it was damaged in different occasions during assaults.
