The balloon flower receives its name from the shape of its bloom buds, which resemble balloons. Flower made with balloons (Platycodon grandiflorus). Balloon flowers are clump-forming plants that seldom reach a height of more than 0.8 metres (2.5 feet). Flaring bell-shaped blooms with five lobes emerge from the swollen flower buds. |
