Information : This large-headed finch has a distinctive crossed bill that it uses to extract conifer seeds from their cones. Males have a dull red or orange coloration with grey or brown highlights all over their bodies. Females have a drab olive-yellow color. They are sociable birds that gather in large groups. During the non-breeding season, they roam far and wide in quest of rich conifer seed yields.
