Sushmita Sen is among the few Indian women to have brought honor to the country by winning a major beauty pageant. Sushmita became the first Indian woman to win the title of Miss Universe in 1994 after she won, Miss India. The contest for beauty queen was attended by participants from 77 different countries. Sushmita took first place at the 43rd Miss Universe pageant.
