Pikes Mountain is the 31st highest peak in Colorado, ranking 31st out of 54 summits. It is the furthest east of the Rocky Mountain chain's great peaks, which contributed to its early reputation among explorers, pioneers, and immigrants, and it became the symbol of the 1859 Colorado Gold Rush with the motto "Pikes Peak or Bust." |
