The Prince Shotoku, who was credited with early Buddhist propagation in Japan, founded Horyuji Temple in 607. Horyu-ji is both a seminary and a monastery, which is translated into the "Temple of the Flourishing Law." The pagoda temple is considered to be one of the world's oldest wooden structures. |
