This is a scaleless catfish. It has a laterally compressed body, and its horizontal ranks are covered by enormous horny projections, known as uncultivating tubers. It resembles a banjo or a guitar, and therefore its popular name, with its broad head and its long, thin form. It is also known as the "Two Colored Banjo Catfish," "Bicolor Banjo Catfish" and "Little Guita." They're also called "Pan Fish Frying" sometimes. |
