Annamalaiyar Temple, one of the Pancha Bhuta Sthalas, is a popular Shaivites holy site located at the base of the Annamalai Hills near Thiruvannamalai. The temple complex is recognized across the country for its massive size and towering height. Many Tamil religious scriptures have been inspired by the temple. The Annamalaiyar temple features four Gopurams, or gateway towers. The temple was primarily constructed during the Chola dynasty's reign, and it was afterwards restored by the Saluva and Tuluva dynasties. |
