One of the most important pilgrimage centres in the state is the Guruvayoor Shri Krishna temple in Kerala. The lord is revered by local devotees as Guruvayoorappan. It is also a holy temple for marriage. Inside only Hindus are allowed and devotees must follow a dress code. In the temple men cannot wear the shirt, which has been practiced in all temples in Kerala.
